There’s a lot of debate on which room of the house is the most important, but we want to put our money on the bedroom. After all, it’s the room you spend the most time in (even if most of that time is with your eyes closed). Whether you’re asleep or awake in the room, it’s essential that it’s set up well, so here’s what to consider when arranging your bedroom.
Function First
The primary function of your bedroom is sleep, so bed placement is important. But are you planning to do anything else in your room? If you’re thinking about a TV, make sure you plan your layout around a television—which wall has space for a TV and is viewable from your bed? Also, make sure to leave room between your mirror and dresser so you can get your outfit right every morning.
Get Sketchy
Use a measuring tape and jot down the dimensions of your room. Then, sketch out your planned bedroom layout before putting anything in the room. That way, you can test out a bunch of designs in your imagination (and on paper) to figure out what you like the most. You’ll also avoid setting everything up only to find that your dresser blocks the door to your bathroom—that’s a pain.
Don’t Forget Your Nightstands
The nightstand is an oft-forgotten element of bedroom design, and we think that’s a crying shame! A nightstand is a perfect place to house all your bedtime essentials, from the book you’re currently reading to the phone you should really stop looking at an hour before you sleep. Don’t neglect your nightstand—you’ll thank us later.
Now that you know what to consider when arranging your bedroom, go into it with a plan, and you’ll come out of it with an incredible space you’ll never want to leave! We hope you enjoy your new cozy sleeping zone!
