How To Use Digital Signage in Your Marketing
If you feel like you've done all you can with print and web advertising, it might be time to look for a new alternative. Try digital signage!

Digital signage is a great way to market your goods and services in places where people congregate. You’ve likely seen digital signs without knowing what to call them. They’re LED and other types of electronic screens that show a constant stream of content and material, including messages, videos, graphics, interactive media, and other elements. They tend to pop up in places where people gather, such as hotels, universities, places of worship, stores, museums, and sports stadiums. They’re mostly there to provide directions and information and to promote the facility’s offerings. Quite often, however, these facilities sell space on their digital signage to outside companies. It’s the kind of advertising and marketing your competitors have likely overlooked, so get there before they do. Here’s how to use digital signage in your marketing.

Go Where “Your” People Are

As mentioned, digital signs show up wherever people will see them. If you’re attending a convention, run ads on the nearby venue’s signs to let attendees know who and where you are on the convention floor. If you’re looking for future customers or new talent, advertise on local colleges and universities’ digital signage. Also, note that hotels elevate the in-room entertainment experience with TVs that act as digital signage. They display information on amenities, deals, and other handy information about the area. You could market yourself through this avenue as well. It’s a terrific way to broadcast your message.

Keep It Light and Entertaining

If you advertise on signs in locations where people must wait—the subway, bus stops, or bank lines—make sure you’re providing something people will want to look at. Don’t compound their misery with the old hard sell or dreary pitches. Share fun facts. Provide a video or image that’ll make them smile. Try to develop memes they’ll want to record and share online. And never forget to include a hashtag and URL!

Include Just the FAQs

If you’re trying to raise awareness of your goods or services, design a series of digital signage ads that answer the top frequently asked questions about your company. Help them get to know you by stating who you are, where you are, and how they can contact you. And always answer the question of what you can do for them.

Share Positive Customer Feedback

Don’t leave all those good reviews and testimonials sitting on Yelp and other review sites. Find the best ones and advertise them. Customers want to know what sort of track record you have with past clients, so let them see what others have to say about you. And highlight those four-star reviews by making the high marks the largest focal point of the advertisement.

Those are the basics on how to use digital signage in your marketing. The key is communication, so when customers mention seeing your messaging, ask them what stood out and what brought them to you.
